Choir: Trips & Tricks

In the world of singing we know the kinds of vocal groups like the Duet, Trio, Quartet, Ensemble, Choir, etc.. Choirs often we see on regular occasions and even the church is an annual example: Pesparawi (Ecclesiastical Choir Festival), Celebration Easter / Christmas.

CHOIR CLASSIFICATION

Choir I classify into 3 (three) levels, namely:

Level – 1
Mastery of Matter, Criteria: Member Choir can sing the song / materials in accordance with a written notation on the partiture.

Spoiler Tip's :

• Sing a long note values ??corresponding short notes on the partiture.
• Low high singing tone intervals in accordance with a written note in the partiture.
• Choir members had to memorize the lyrics.

Level – 2
Interpretation, Criteria: Member Choir can sing the song / materials in accordance with the desired interpretation of songs by composers as well as aranger song.

Spoiler Tip's :

• Train hard or soft sound in accordance with dynamic marks on the score. If not listed on the sheet music, dynamic poetry adapted to the meaning or character of the melody line.
• Practice articulation (pronunciation) the lyrics to be heard clearly. For example the pronunciation of the consonant "r", "s", "ng", and the vowel a, i, u, e, o, so that the sound difference.
• Note the intonation (emphasis) in accordance with the syllable bar song.
• Note Frasering (wording) to match the correct sentence. This can be achieved if implemented with good breathing techniques.
• Perform adequate heating technique before implementation begins exercises in order to obtain a color that blends voice, so there is no sound that stands alone.

Level – 3
Expression, Criteria: After going through a phase of level 1 and 2, the Choir members are able to sing a song or a material with appreciation and issued through the expression.

Spoiler Tip's :

• Practicing how to sing songs appropriate to the character, for example: a cheery song or arrangement sung with lively and cheerful. Note the arrangements contained in the sign change of tempo, for example: accelerandos, rittardando, A-tempo etc.., In order to appropriately sung thus supporting the expression.
• Not all members can sing with expression. Place the member on the central position and the outer row (left / right), because this position affect the overall performance.

DISTRIBUTION OF GROUP VOICES

The choir generally consists of four groups of sounds that is Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass. Some of the arrangements some are split Soprano, Meso, Alto, Tenor, baritone and bass. To get a good balance, it needs the proper division for each group.

Spoiler Tip's :

• Classify members based on the Range / ambitus voice, do not force the singer to sing Alto grouped soprano with soprano reasons for lack of members, as well as other groups.
• The composition of the SATB (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) that Ideal is 3:2:2:3., However, the guidelines above can be changed with consideration of the existing potential of Power singer.

CONDUCTOR

Choir conductor in a very influential on the success of the Choir performances. Ideally Choir Conductor doubles coach since the beginning of the exercise program implemented, in order to be emotionally intertwined communication.
